Why do people love restaurants? A restaurant, whether large or tiny, with traditional or unique cuisine, is more than just a place to dine. The ambiance, comfort, and aesthetics also elicit a wide range of feelings. The good news is that you can influence these variables and so improve your clients’ overall experience.

Renovation, though sounding serious, does not have to be highly time- and effort-consuming. Adding flower pots on the walls and on the floor stand and allowing lianas to grow can be a simple remedy for a not-so-appealing wall. They can also separate the tables to create the illusion of a different cabin. However, it could be a more substantial undertaking, such as rebuilding the ceiling or expanding the space. Refurbish the Flooring

The first thing you do when you walk into a restaurant is a step on the floor. The flooring can be of any type, including natural wood, laminate, tile, self-leveling, and so on. The principal requirements to any restaurant floor go as follows:

  • Clean. Even if your restaurant is a busy place where spills and garbage are unavoidable, it’s important that these stains and debris be cleaned as soon as possible. That can be a hassle if there are small crevices on the floor or if it has a convex ornament.
  • Even. Whatever material you pick for a floor, it should be perfectly even to prevent anyone from stumbling and/or falling.
  • Durable. Even though your restaurant is small, the floor bears much more load than in a residential house. Thousands of steps per day, food and water stains, and garbage wear down the floors. Choose a durable material (like a natural cleft slate) so that you won’t have to replace the floors every year.

If it is not possible to renovate the entire floor, you can replace the flooring in  zones that are visited the most. For other parts, you can use various floor coverings (carpets, mats, etc.) in order to make them more comfortable and diverse. Besides, with many floor types, it’s possible to install flooring on your own and thus, cut the renovation cost. Get a meter, a hammer, and the best cordless jigsaw, and you’re ready.

Repair the Facade

The decision to visit the restaurant is often made when standing in front of its facade. Take a friend with you and approach your restaurant from different directions. What do you see? Does the facade look clean? Is it appealing? If there are windows, how much can you see through that window? Does the place look cozy?

In order to update your facade, you can make several renovations:

  • Change the color. The hue should complement your logo and elicit favorable sentiments. Avoid harsh hues, if possible. Such colors as bold red can be unconsciously linked to hunger but also propel to dynamic action instead of relaxation.
  • Color the details. If you don’t plan to renovate the entire facade, you can easily change the impression it conveys by renovating the key details. For example, dye the door and shutters or draw an ornament around the window or multicolored stripes on the facade.
  • Install comfort signs. In order to improve the facade looks, you can decorate the windows with curtains, put the flower in a pot on the sill, or cover the sill with little pillows.

Adjust the Lighting

Managing the lighting of your restaurant, you can change its ambiance significantly. The first step is to determine what type of lighting is appropriate for the restaurant. If your place is mainly for adults, relaxation, quiet conversations, and romantic meetings take the lamps or diode lighting of warm colors like yellow and red.mKeep the main passage and decorations brighter, but keep the lights dimmed over the tables. You can also put decorative lamps or candles in candlesticks on tables to make the ambiance more intimate.

If your restaurant’s interior has some flaws like an inaccurate wall painting, stains, or unsightly protrusions, you can make them less visible by directing light in the right direction. Keep the light over flawed parts of the interior warmer and dimmer. If you have a good picture on the wall, install several diode lamps in the ceiling or in the top part of a picture’s frame. In this way, you’ll draw the eye to the painting and divert it away from the rest of the room. If your restaurant primarily serves daily meals, consider clearing the windows of any obstructions to allow more natural light to flood the space. Use a mirror to add extra light to every corner of your restaurant.

Keep the Furniture Looking New

You don’t have to buy new tables and chairs once scratch or wearing marks appear, but you can make them look new. There are the following ways for that:

  • Refinishing. If you have wooden tables and chairs, you can polish and lacquer them to make them look new. Painting with fresh colors can also considerably improve the looks of your furniture. The leather and cloth furniture can be upholstered.
  • Using coverings. Adding a new cover to your furniture is an easy way to give it a fresh new look. A table can be covered with a tablecloth and the chairs and coaches with soft covers. If there’s a single crevice or a non-removable stain on the table, you can install a holder for napkins or another useful object there.

You are not required to reupholster all of the furniture at the same time. Keep an eye out for worn marks and replace only the items that need it. As a temporary solution, you can move less attractive furniture into the area with dimmer lighting.

Make the Restroom Clean and Comfortable

A restroom is an important part of any restaurant. Almost every guest you have is likely to visit it at least once. Adhere to the following tips as much as possible to make this part of your restaurant comfortable:

  • Tiles. Use big-size tiles for floors and walls in a restroom. Choose colors such as light green, gray, black, and blue. Tiles are simple to clean and have a gleaming finish, giving the impression that the space is spotless.
  • Ventilation. Ensure the ventilation works well and that no odor from the toilet enters the hall.
  • Hooks for bags and clothes. People may want to put their purses or jacket somewhere while using the restroom. Installing two hooks in a cabin will increase the comfort level of your visitors.

Paper towels. These can serve different purposes (like wiping the top of the shoes) and are usually more convenient than automatic hand dryers.
